STAN’S PICK FOR JUNE ’26

Well, summer is just about here, so it is time to slip into whites for the next three months. I always suggest to my sales reps to look to France, Chile or Spain for choices. It seems to me that I find the best values in these areas. Gascogne is one of my favorite areas, located in southwest France. They like to make whites with interesting grapes like Ugni Blanc, Gros Manseng and Colombard. There are many combinations that they use, and somehow, put together, they make refreshing, juicy, and zippy white wines. My pick for June is exactly that, from the Cotes de Gascogne region of southwest France.

2025 Domaine De Joy White (Cotes de Gascogne, France)… $12.

This white is a blend of 50% Colombard, 20% Ugni Blanc, 20% Gros Manseng and 10% Sauvignon Blanc.

Aromas of Asian Pear and Bartlett Pear, mingled with hints of orange zest and melon. Passion Fruit, pear and citrus notes come through on the palate, supported by juicy acidity that gives it a vibrancy in the mouth. The finish lingers with notes of grapefruit sneaking in on the back end. A perfect white to pair with clams, oysters or mussels. However, I suggest you kick back on your lawn chair on a warm day and enjoy this refreshing, delicious wine. Whatever you choose, it delivers a lot for the price! B/B+

Cheers!
