STAN’S WINE PICK …. APRIL 2014

2009 Cana’s Feast Bricco Red (Columbia Valley, WA)… $15.

No matter how long I have been in this business, I end up discovering new people and new wines that I have never even heard of. Not too long ago a very cool guy came to the store with Brad (American NW Distributors Rep.), named Patrick Taylor. We talked about his winery (Cana’s Feast) located in Oregon, we tasted through his wines, and I was thoroughly impressed with just about everything I tasted.

The Bricco Red stood out to me because of the quality-to-price (qpr) ratio. Another words, a d*^n good wine for the money. Aromas of pea pods (very interesting), cherries and rose petal. A core of red plums hit the palate backed by notes of red cherries, spice and a hit of crushed rocks. There is an interesting violet component that comes through on the mid-palate leading into a finish of baking spices and cherries that lingers on the palate. Not only is this red good, it is very interesting. (B+/A-)

Cheers!

About Stan The Wine Man

I am a blue collar wine guy who has been in the biz for over twenty years. I work at a store in a tourist destination stop. I work hard at finding the best wine for the money. I love the challenge of learning my customer's palate so I can find the best wine for them, whether it is Petrus or white zinfandel. Cheers!
