That is why I am posting my pick for this month a bit late. However, I am super excited about this month&#8217;s pick. After a summer of picking white wines for my pick, I&#8217;ve now switched to reds. In most cases, I find the best values from Portugal, Argentina, Chile, Spain and Itay, with Spain and Portugal being the front runners. This month, it is a vibrant, juicy and delicious Tempranillo from Spain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/stanthewineman.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"377\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/stanthewineman.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-377x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3451\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stanthewineman.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-377x1024.png 377w, https:\/\/stanthewineman.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-111x300.png 111w, https:\/\/stanthewineman.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image.png 474w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 377px) 100vw, 377px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>2021 Domaine De Eguren Codice Tempranillo (Vino De La Tierra De Castilla, Spain)&#8230; $10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aromas of Blackberries, licorice, and black plums. Very intense and vibrant notes of blackberries and plums on the front of the palate, with chocolate notes sneaking in underneath. Nicely integrated acidity lifts the fruit notes, giving the wine intense verve and leading to a lingering finish where a hint of tobacco joins the palate party. Good structure and integration. This wine is made for food, but I find it quite interesting on its own. As far as food? Anything with blue cheese or BBQ sauce would match nicely. A wine that punches well above its weight class.
